This was made for a holiday card exchange this past holiday. It was a blast, and I'm so relieved that the recipient of the card actually received it! It took nearly a month for her to get it since I was mailing from the US to South Africa.
The next project on the table is an exchange with my Secret Santa. I'll be doing Disney's Belle in a similar style to this. I'm pretty excited about that. I just need to draw up a sketch that I'm happy with first before I get in too deep.
Oooohhhh Beauty and the Beast is one of thee best Disney movies. Gotta miss the old school animation that Disney used to produce. And that's really cool your making it for your secret Santa. Art is a great gift to anyone. Cause it shows yo took the time in making something for them.
Better than any gift you can buy with money.....except maybe a legit real pony.
That's true and a good thing to do. I just usually throw things on the page and hope to pancakes it's going to make something awesome.
Indeed! I really miss the traditional animation that Disney was known for, but at the same time, I do like some of the things they have come out with recently. Well, he's doing a Munny for me in return, so I'm really excited to see what he comes up with since I just told him I wanted something that would fit in an Adventure Time setting.
Hahaha. I think if someone gave me money and told me to go crazy with interior decorating/designing, I'd be pretty happy too... but a real pony would be awesome too.
Planning's definitely important, but it isn't always necessary. Some of my best sketches or designs in the past were just thrown together haphazardly.
I gotta admit CG is pretty awesome. Though My love for Disney has gone down a bit. Their movie about the video games was really good, but it's been a long time since I been in awe by a Disney movie. But dreamworks on the other hand has been blowing me away to the point where I'm being washed away by the awesome tidal wave. I especially love their movies Rise of the Guardians and How to Train your Dragon.
Yes, a pony would be amazing. I would name it Bilbo...and we would go on an adventure to mordor to the fires of mount doom. But if someone did pay me to do art, I would also go wild.
Ah! The Together Haphazardly moments are the best moments. And could be potentially dangerous moments. Never do it with cooking. Yo might end up with food poisoning like I did. lol. Thinking and not thinking are both sides of the same coin. Always good.
(Good lord I took forever to reply. My bad! February is a pretty busy month in a not so fun way.)
Dreamworks has done some amazing stuff recently. HtTYD in particular had me smitten. Though I admit, Pixar may have just pretty much won me over completely with its recent short Paperman. Right smack dab in the feels!
And oh my goodness! What a grand adventure with the pony, henceforth known as Bilbo, it would be! Hehe.
I make sure to practice haphazard combinations safely, so fret not!
Hopefully I'll be able to revisit this idea again sometime and do a larger piece with a background.
I hope you do revisit this piece later on. I can't wait to see more of your works. What are you planning on doing next?
